LEBANON - Selectmen Chairman Ben Thompson said on Thursday he plans to run for a second three-year term next June.

"As of now, yes," he told The Lebanon Voice.

Thompson said he is looking forward to continuing his work in the reappraisal of shoreline properties and shoring up town finances.

He said the town's financial position is stronger than it's been for a long time, and that the town's general fund now has $800,000 in it as opposed to just $30,000 a year ago.

A TAN (tax anticipation note) wasn't needed after all this year, he said, and fall tax bills went out this week which should further bolster town coffers.

Thompson won his first election in June 2013 when he easily defeated incumbent and longtime selectman Robert Frizzell and several others to win in his first run for political office.
