Between losing sleep from Daylight Saving Time, achy muscles from shoveling after Tuesday's blizzard and making sure to keep your Lenten resolutions, it would be easy to forget to vote today, especially being a Thursday when many Milton folk are used to heading down to Three Ponds Tavern for a nice seafood dinner or the local Moose Club for a cold beverage on payday.

But before you do that today, don't forget to vote.

There may be no massive dollar amounts on town referendums like with last year's fire station (ain't she pretty), but there are some important issues to deal with nonetheless, not the least of which is choosing a new selectman.

The way we see it there are three quality candidates on the ballot, and one thing we know for sure: they better have the fire in the belly to take on this job after what's gone on in the recent past.

Channeling Forest Gump, that's all we have to say about that!

Beyond the run of the mill referenda we see every year is Article 7, which appropriates $14,000 to fund a step plan/pay plan for Highways, Solid Waste Department and Government Buildings. We would endorse this. The men and women in this department do a fine job keeping Milton looking great.

We would also endorse the ballfields (10) and boat ramp articles (11), and one raising money to fight the European Naiad (16), which threatens Milton Three Ponds, the town's primary economic engine.

With all the good things on the ballot, let's make one thing clear. Milton's tax rate is no joke for people struggling making ends meet.

So vote wisely. It's your money.

And your government.

So for gosh sakes, vote. Then go do your Thursday thing.

Polling takes place from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Milton Assembly of God Church located at 370 White Mountain Highway.
