LEBANON, Maine - The town of Lebanon will soon begin the process of hiring its fourth Code Enforcement Officer in four years after its current CEO submitted his resignation letter to the town on Tuesday.

Steven McDonough, who has been on the job for a little over a year, resigned his position effective Aug. 5.

McDonough took over for former CEO Mark Arenberg, who ended his employment with the town in March 2018 after just four months on the job. Town officials gave no information on Arenberg's departure.

Priot to Arenberg the position was held by Mike Beaulieu, who stepped down on Sept. 18, 2017, amid controversy over his handling of Shoreland Zoning issues. He had served the town since June 2015.

Town voters rejected a $109,000 budget that included McDonough's salary and benefit package as well as other line items in June, 768-243.

A trimmed down $59,000 budget passed during a Special Town Meeting on Aug. 11.
