LEBANON - Lebanon Transfer Station workers are pursuing union representation by the same union that covers Lebanon Town Offices Personnel, it was learned at Monday's selectmen's meeting.

A vote by transfer station workers to initiate the unionization of their jobs - which are all part time - has already occurred, said Lebanon Selectmen Chair Christine Torno.

The next step is a preliminary meeting with the state Labor Relations Board to determine the appropriate bargaining unit and what other possible details are to be worked out prior to moving forward.

The union local that represents Town Offices workers and the one that is expected to potentially represent Transfer Station workers is Teamsters 340.

The meeting will be held at the State of Maine Labor Relations Board Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, Elkins Building, 19 Elkins Lane, Augusta.
