ROCHESTER - The City of Rochester announcing today the immediate closure of the playgrounds at the former School Street School and William Allen School. These temporary closures are being implemented proactively out of an abundance of caution.

During a recent routine review, it was determined that the playground equipment at both locations do not fully meet updated safety codes outlined by the city's municipal insurance provider. The City of Rochester remains committed to maintaining recreational facilities that meet current safety standards.

Families are encouraged to visit other city playgrounds during this closure, including the Rochester Common, Nancy Loud Park, and the playground at Hanson Pines. For a list of open parks and outdoor recreation opportunities, click here.
