Two injured in Lebanon ATV accident

LEBANON - A Lebanon man operating an ATV and his female passenger were injured late Friday night when they crashed into a tree at the corner of Lower Guinea and Sawtell roads.

Lebanon Fire Department personnel responded to the call a little after 11 p.m. and found the two on the ground near the accident scene.

According to a press release issued by Assistant Fire Chief Dan Roy, the driver was attempting to turn onto Sawtell Road when the accident occurred. The passenger, a 21-year-old woman from Sanford, was thrown about 10 feet into the woods, while the 27-year-old man went head-first into the tree.

Neither was wearing a helmet, however, both injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, Roy said this morning.

The male was transported to Goodall Memorial Hospital in Sanford, while the female was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Lebanon Fire Department, the Maine State Police, Sanford Rescue and Frisbie Ambulance as well as personnel from Lebanon Rescue responded to the accident.
