WATERVILLE, Maine - Two Sanford residents died in a fiery rollover on Wednesday when their pickup truck went over an Interstate 95 guardrail and landed on its roof.

The driver, Gary Capehart, 71, and Susan Pope, 63, both of Sanford, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred around 10:25 a.m. during a snowstorm. After going over the guardrail the 2003 Chevrolet pickup landed in the westbound lane of Kennedy Memorial Drive before flipping over another guardrail and bursting into flame.

The crash happened just north of mile marker 127.

Speed, weather conditions and traffic congestion from a nearby separate accident were all factors, police say.
