Two taken into custody on drug charges during early morning suspicious car call

ROCHESTER - A local transient wanted by state police on a drug charge was arrested on a second drug charge by Rochester Police during their investigation of a suspicious vehicle call early Sunday morning.

The incident unfolded around 1:20 a.m. when police were called to the parking lot of Norway Plains Apartments for the report of a suspicious vehicle with two people inside.

When police arrived they identified the two people as James Brooks. 29. and Mercedes Adjutant, 24, both Rochester transients.

Brooks had an active capias warrant regarding drug possession while Adjutant had an active state police warrant on a drug charge. She was arrested on a second drug charge for possessing what police believe was heroin, according to Rochester Police Capt. Todd Pinkham.

Adjutant was released on PR bail and issued a June arraignment date. Brooks was transported to Stafford County Jail.
