ROCHESTER - A prominent local educator who serves as Vice Chair of the Rochester School Board and is the president of the New Hampshire School Boards Association was arrested for drunken driving early Saturday.

Anthony Pastelis, 58, of 70 Pine St., Rochester, was arrested for DWI shortly after midnight at 160 Washington St., which is the address of the Rochester Crossing shopping plaza.

Rochester Police got a call a little before midnight for an accident involving a 2013 Dodge Charger into a parking lot light pole, and arrested Pastelis shortly after responding to the incident, Rochester Police Capt. Gary Boudreau said today.

Pastelis, according to his Linked In profile, is also an associate professor at Endicott College in Beverly, Mass., and an adjunct professor at Northcentral University in Arizona.

Pastelis, who holds a doctorate degree, has been on the Rochester School Board since 2007.

He was bailed on personal recognizance and faces an arraignment July 13 in Rochester District Court.
