LEBANON - The motorist injured on Friday night after her car went off the road on Route 202 and struck a tree has been identified as a 23-year-old Lebanon woman.

The single-vehicle crash occurred around 11:45 p.m. about halfway between Center Road and Stokewoods Diner, with the vehicle, a Dodge Neon, ending up about 30 feet off the roadway’s westbound lane, said Deputy Lebanon Fire Chief Eric Neubert.

Lebanon Fire Crews used the Jaws of Life to extricate the woman and called for an additional Sanford Fire crew with a second Jaws of Life to speed the process.

After about a half hour of steady work the woman was freed and transported to South Maine Healthcare, formerly Goodall Hospital. The driver was the lone occupant of the car.

Neubert said her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Maine State Trooper Matthew Williams said alcohol and imprudent speed appeared to have been factors in the crash.

"The woman said she hit a patch of ice," he said on Saturday.

Williams said blood samples had been taken and the woman would likely be charged with OUI if they came back positive for being over the .08 BAC limit.

Travel on Route 202 was restricted to one lane as Lebanon Rescue and Lebanon Fire crews worked the scene. Crews cleared the accident around 1:30 a.m.
