Updated fire codes for city went into effect on Sunday

ROCHESTER - The Rochester Fire Department announced today that updated fire codes for the city went into effect on Sunday.

The National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA) 2015 edition fire code includes updates to building, residential, plumbing, fire and life safety codes among others.

"Fire prevention and protection are core components of keeping our residents safe, and these updates go a long way toward ensuring that we're doing the most we can as a state and community to do just that," Chief Mark Klose said. "We want residents, builders and property owners to be aware of these updates, and we'll take an active role in ensuring that building in Rochester are up to code."
