LEBANON - A vacant mobile home in Lebanon was destroyed in a fast-moving fire Wednesday morning.

Lebanon Fire-EMS got the call around 7 a.m. and found a single wide mobile home with two additions fully involved at 249 Lower Cross Road.

Due to a lack of manpower and distance to a water source, a second alarm was quickly rung, with crews using tankers to shuttle water from the Town Offices fire pond on Upper Guinea Road to the fire scene, a four-mile mile round trip.

A third alarm was soon requested, again for lack of manpower, according to a press release from Lebanon Fire-EMS.

By around 7:50 crews had the bulk of the fire extinguished.

An excavator was called into the scene and assisted with tearing down the remaining parts of the building.

Crews cleared the scene around noon.

It was determined that the building was vacant, and there was nobody inside at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Maine State Fire Marshall's Office.

Sanford Fire assisted at the scene.
