Virginia Ruth Emery ... longtime registered nurse | Virginia Ruth Emery

LEBANON, Maine - Virginia Ruth Emery, 85, went to be with her Lord on Monday, June 8, 2015, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness.
Born December 8, 1929, in Kittery, Maine, she was the daughter of Raymond and Hazel (McMullen) Emery.
Known as Pigtail Nana, Ginny, and Cookie over the years, she retired at age 64 from a long career as a Registered Nurse. She worked at many different hospitals and nursing homes in later years. Nursing was truly a vocation and calling for her. She lived to help people and was loved and respected by her coworkers and patients. In fact, her wonderful care team at Frisbie Memorial Hospital commented on what a sweet lady she was, even though she was so ill and weak.
She was known for her boundless generosity and joyful giving and enjoyed helping anybody she could. She looked forward to attending church each week, the church potluck luncheons, dining out, books on audio tape that she called "talking books", spending time with family and friends, playing the piano and singing, writing poetry, swimming and picking blueberries at Indian Lake in Lebanon, Maine, and cooking and specifically making soups.
She took so much delight in being a Nana and Great-Nana and enjoyed having her grandchildren spend time in the summers with her.
She was predeceased by her brothers Raymond and Donald Emery and sister Marcia (Emery) Hersey.
She is survived by her loving sister Norma (Emery) Gallant, with whom Virginia shared her home and was so blessed by, children Christina Emery of Rochester, N.H., Bradbury and Robin Sherwood of Middleton, N.H., and Jennie and Lee Schroeter of Lusby, Md., grandchildren Jaimi (Littlefield) Hinckley, Janis (Emery) Brumfield, Kristofer Schroeter, Lance Sherwood, Kenneth Schroeter, and Nathan Sherwood, and great-granddaughter Olivia Hinckley.
