ROCHESTER - Rochester Main Street is seeking volunteers for a flower planting in Central Square, also known as Parson Main Square, on Friday from 3-5 p.m.

Main Street board member Todd Radict describes the event as an expansion of previous efforts. This year, the plan is to include more flowers than in years past.

"We've always planted flowers around the monument but we'd like to see flowers near the new Main Street sign, too," said Radict. "We want this park to be vibrant and full of flowers. It's one of the first places you see when you enter downtown.

Radict said he's hopeful that community volunteers will participate in the planting.

Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves and small shovels.
