When candidates play to their base, that's expected; when networks do, that's sad

What Bill Maher said this week codifies from the left what Americans have been suspicious of for three years: that 99 percent of news outlets in this country are only concerned with running President Trump from office and working in concert with the Democratic Party leadership to ensure their candidates' victory while continuing to marginalize conservative idea as racist, homophobic and dare I say, Neanderthal.

Maher, who is as guilty as any late night host in spewing anti-conservative jibes and gibberish, earlier this week took the Democrats to task for saying they would bypass Fox News' invitation to host a presidential debate on their network during the 2020 primary season.

DNC chair Tom Perez said he deemed Fox unqualified to host such a debate after reading - of all things - a New Yorker article about the president's close relationship with the conservative news outlet.

Maybe Mr. Perez didn't watch the 2016 primary debate when former Fox news host Megyn Kelly famously called out candidate Trump on his derogatory statements about women.

She immediately became a darling of mainstream media and ended up being hired by NBC for megabucks. Btw, how'd that work out for the peacock?

Last time I heard she's at some bar in the Hamptons doing shots with Matt Lauer.

But back to Maher, which rhymes with Lauer. Ain't life funny!

Anyway, the mainstream media dares to say its objective, claiming 92 percent of their stories about Trump are negative because "that's the news."

And their fawning base swallows it. That's right now news networks, just like candidates, have their base. Who knew?

Anyway, the import of Maher's assertion is that it comes from the very left that idolizes him when he takes jabs at the president.

If you are a Trump hater you might be saying, OMG, the turncoat's eating his young.

As for Mr. Perez, don't blame him too much for losing his cool with Fox. He's got a lot on his plate, including how in the heck he's going to sabotage pesky Bernie this time so Biden gets the nod.
