FARMINGTON - William (Bill) Neal King, 78, of Farmington, N.H., peacefully passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, with his family by his side. Bill was born on October 2, 1938, in Lewiston, Maine, son of Norman and Carrie King, with two siblings, Richard and June.
Bill grew up in Berwick, Maine and Rochester, N.H., and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1956. He joined the Air Force and served as a radar technician, traveling to Colorado, Texas and Iceland, and returned to Rochester after he was honorably discharged in 1960. He married his wife, Joyce (Glidden) in 1963. He worked as a roofer and at General Electric, before opening and running his own business for more than 30 years.
Bill was a hard-working man and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved his land and to walk in the woods. He loved animals and was known to take in strays; both the four-legged and two-legged varieties. He also was known for long drives, including trips to Florida with horses or Canada for hay, without a pit stop in between.
Bill's pride and joy was the business that he and Joyce built, Horse Hill Feeds, a family store that specialized in feed, grain, hay, bird feeders, plants and fountains. It was his passion, a place where he could talk to and help all his neighbors and work to his heart's content. For many years, Bill collected aluminum cans to raise money for Vans for Vets, another way he quietly helped others.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, his children and their spouses Leslie (King) and Dennet Hushka; Charlie and Kathy King; Neal King and Tony Rodrigues; Laury (King) and Jason Ramsey and his grandchildren, Zachary, Jeremiah, Molly, Annelise, Michael, Alexis, Danielle, Cameron and Carley.
