ROCHESTER - William Henry Carter, III, age 60, of Rochester N.H., died November 29, at home after a brave battle with cancer.

Born May 15, 1954, Rockville Centre, NY to William H. Jr. and Lucette G., née Monnier. Both predeceased him.

Beloved partner of Kay Wooten and stepfather of Michael and Rebecca Sasso.

Beloved father of Lindsay Monnier Raynes and husband, Brian of Madbury; Alexis Eileen Kochka and husband, Matthew of Somersworth; Daniel William of Rollinsford; Jacob John and partner, April Manning of Madbury; children by his former wife, Eileen Hooper Carter, and grandfather of Eva Raynes.

Big brother to Joan B., Raymond M. and his wife Bettina Sturm, Marie M., Annina M. (who predeceased him), Gabrielle Katz and her husband Jody, and Renée G., all of New York State. Uncle to Ethan, Adrian, Ava, and Fabrizio.

Survived by Aunts Joan Pantzer, Bernadette Monnier and Elizabeth Vandelli.

Bill resided in New Hampshire for 30 years. He rowed recreationally and volunteered for Great Bay Rowing. He was also active as a volunteer for the Boy Scouts and Red Cross. He began working as a carpenter in his teens, and maintained an interest in woodworking all his life. He loved the outdoors, the ocean, and hiking in the White Mountains.

Bill received his B.S. from State University of NY at New Paltz. He made his career in software development and engineering, working for Cabletron, Cisco, and other companies.
