Woman struck by hit-run driver remains in critical condition at Port City hospital

ROCHESTER - The woman struck near the Milton Road Hannaford remains in critical condition today at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

The woman's name, age and hometown are all still being withheld, according to police, but could possibly be released shortly.

Meanwhile, the investigations into the vehicle that struck the woman and its driver continue.

"We have not yet identified the driver and ask that anyone with any information on the crash contact us directly at 603-330-7128, or through the Rochester Crimeline by calling 603-335-6500 or texting to CRIMES (274637) with TEXT4CASH in the body of the message along with the tip," Rochester Police Public Information Officer Andrew Swanberry said on Monday..

The woman was injured Friday night when she was struck by a passing motorist who fled the scene. according to police, who responded around 10:20 p.m. to Milton Road near Hannaford for a report of a person on the ground near the roadway.
When they arrived they located an unidentified female unconscious with a head injury beside the northbound side of Milton Road. The initial investigation revealed that the female had been walking northbound pushing an unoccupied baby stroller when she was struck from behind by a vehicle that was traveling north.
Frisbie Memorial Hospital EMS transported the female to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for serious injuries.

Damage to the vehicle that struck her is expected to be mostly on the front passenger's side, with potential damage to the hood and windshield, police say.
