ROCHESTER - A woman walking along Milton Road was seriously injured Friday night when she was struck by a passing motorist who fled the scene.
Police responded around 10:20 p.m. to Milton Road near Hannaford for a report of a person on the ground near the roadway.
When they arrived they located an unidentified female unconscious with a head injury beside the northbound side of Milton Road. The initial investigation revealed that the female had been walking northbound pushing an unoccupied baby stroller when she was struck from behind by a vehicle that was traveling north.
Frisbie Memorial Hospital EMS transported the female to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for serious injuries. Her identity remains unknown.
She was wearing a purple shirt, blue sweatshirt, white pants and black shoes.
The identity of the driver of the vehicle also remains unknown at this time. Damage to the vehicle is expected to be mostly on the front passenger's side, with potential damage to the hood and windshield, police say.
