DOVER - A Rochester woman indicted in October for allegedly supplying a fatal dose of fentanyl to a woman who died in jail was sentenced to 10-20 years in state prison on Thursday for trafficking in fentanyl in connection with a separate arrest.

Kerri Guay, 32, formerly of Widley Street and Milton Road in Rochester, pleaded guilty before Strafford County Superior Court Judge Steven M. Houran as part of a plea deal on several other charges, including possessing drugs in a correctional facility, trafficking in fentanyl, shoplifting and lying to law enforcement.

Ironically, the woman who died on April 3 as a result of ingesting the fentanyl allegedly supplied by Guay, Nikole Coe, 24, had earlier been indicted on the very same charge in connection with the death of a popular Rochester bartender.

Guay dispensed fentanyl to Coe who ingested the drug resulting in her death, according to the October indictment.

Coe was found unresponsive on April 3 in an undisclosed area of the Carroll County Jail, where she was awaiting trial for allegedly supplying fentanyl to Sarah Brooks, a popular Rochester bartender, who died of an overdose in February 2017 at the age of 46.

Coe and her former boyfriend Joshua Naples, 28, had both been indicted in the overdose death of Brooks, who worked at the former Slim's restaurant and bar in downtown Rochester.

Coe was indicted in December 2017 on one felony count of dispensing the fentanyl that allegedly killed Brooks. Naples was indicted on a similar charge in February.

Naples' charges were dropped after Coe's death due to lack of evidence.

Guay, Naples and Brooks all lived on Lafayette Street in Rochester at the time of Brooks' death.

On Thursday Guay also pleaded guilty to two separate delivery of articles (drugs) to jail counts, Class B felonies which drew three and a half to seven year prison sentences that will be served concurrently to the fentanyl trafficking sentence, which was in connection with an arrest on Dec. 26, 2016, in East Wakefield. She also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor shoplifting and lying to law enforcement charges.

The death resulting charge against Guay is yet to be adjudicated.

Deputy County Attorney Timothy Sullivan who is the lead prosecutor in the case was not available for comment on Tuesday.
