ROCHESTER - The 110 Grill is a great place to go for a family event like Mother's Day or Father's Day or a birthday for that matter, which is why I took my granddaughter there last week.
Now my children were always steadfast in what they wanted when eating out. My two sons always got a BLT and my daughter pretty much always got chicken nuggets.
So when 5-year-old Rylee groaned when I queried her on which she wanted I defaulted to the children's menu.
Mac and cheese? No.
Hot dog? A frown.
Hamburger? Bigger frown
Peanut butter and Jelly? yeah, ok with a frown.
I actually wanted something we could share, so I went to the salads.
Bbq chicken salad? No.
Blue cheese wedge? A (didn't know what it was) frown
caesar? Yes, yes, yes, yes. caesar caesar caesar.
I was a little taken aback with her joie de vivre with a Caesar salad, but it was her birthday, so that's what we got.
I'll have to admit she knows how to order.
The 110 caesar is irrepressibly satisfying with a huge mound of crisp romaine hearts tossed in a housemade dressing and layered with deliciously fresh shaved Parmesan cheese.
We also got an order of fries, which Rylee declared "best ever" upon first bite.
Another reason I went to the 110 was they're always ready with a "Happy Birthday" crew to make someone's birthday even more special.
But what was the best dessert to carry the candle?

HAIL CAESAR: The 110's caesar salad was a heaping helping of healthy yumminess

Our waiter suggested a chocolate brownie topped with ice cream, chocolate syrup and whipped cream.
Even Rylee, who adores her ice cream, was staggered by the enormity of the serving.
She quickly allowed grandpa to partake, and he did, and promptly got such a sugar rush.
The brownie, itself, was thoroughly indulgent, with chocolate chips throughout the confection.
Truth be told, we had to get a doggie bags for the caesar and the dessert, which they packaged up in a plastic container with cover.
As we headed out the door we asked the hostess if they'd ever see anyone finish the brownie.
"Not many," they said.
Those with gluten sensitivity should know that any dish the !!0 has can be made gluten free.
The 110 Grill is located at The Ridge Marketplace in Rochester.
