LEBANON - After more than a year in preparation for last weekend's Lebanon's 250th birthday celebration, the event's lead organizer hailed the festivities as an outstanding success.

"I was very happy with it," Lebanon 250th Committee Chair Nancy Wyman said over the weekend. "I know the barn dance was standing room only. We had planned on 48 and there were over 60 there.

The barn dance at Seven Elms was one of the highlights of the four-day celebration, which also included a parade, a Gully Oven Concert, guided trolley rides with town historian Steve Woodman and a picnic at Skydive New England.

Meanwhile, the time capsule commemorating the event will be kept at town officers to be opened sometime in the future.

Wyman explained that time capsules from the 200th and 225th celebration had been lost.

"We decided to keep it at Town Offices," she said. "People lose track through the years."

She said the time capsule holds a program book and different tickets from the events as well as a description of the whole plan for events over the four days.

Wyman said the committee would meet a final time next week to discuss any post-festival input.

She also took the opportunity to thank all the businesses that advertised and The Lebanon Voice for its support and coverage of the festival.

Finally, she thanked all of the public who attended who made the festival such a success.
