After more than a week of sharply rising hospitalizations, numbers see a drop

CONCORD - DHHS announced 10 more deaths related to COVID-19 and 791 new positive test results, but there is hope to cling to in that for the first time since Dec 4, the number of hospitalizations fell with 247 statewide, down from 258 on Friday..

Of the cases reported Saturday:

* 12/7: 4 new cases today, for an updated total of 808 cases

* 12/8: 165 new cases today, for an updated total of 951 cases

* 12/9: 107 new cases today, for an updated total of 518 cases

* 12/10: 128 new cases today, for an updated total of 777 cases

* 12/11: 387 new cases

Test results for previous days are still being processed and the total number of new positives for those days are not yet complete. Updated case counts for prior days will be reflected on the COVID-19 interactive dashboard.

Several cases are still under investigation.

Of those with complete information, there are 93 minors and 44 from Strafford County.

Locally, Dover continues as the county hot spot with 132 current cases, followed by Rochester with 90. Other local cases include 45 in Somersworth, 24 in Barrington, 22 in Farmington, 18 in Strafford and 12 in Milton.DHHS has also announced ten additional deaths related to COVID-19, all over 60.
