MIDDLETON - Alicia McLaughlin MacVane, died June 18,2021 at the home of her daughter following a long illness. She was surrounded by her children.
Alicia was born in Dover on September 28, 1926, the daughter of Daniel Mc Laughlin and Agnes Mallen McLaughlin. She was the fourth of five children. Alicia grew up in Dover and was a Dover High School graduate.
Alicia was preceded in death by her husband Glenn E. MacVane, her daughter Julia MacVane, her brother Daniel McLaughlin, brother Cornelius McLaughlin, and sister Joanne McLaughlin Paine.
She is survived by her great granddaughters, Andrea Law and Charlie MacVane; daughter and son in law, Kathryn and James Buzard; son David MacVane; daughter and son in law, Glenna and George Law; grandson, George Law and his wife Amanda; grandson John MacVane and his wife Nicole and long-time family friend Richard Baldelli. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Jennison and many nieces and nephews.
Following her marriage to Glenn, Alicia spent 16 years as an Army wife before returning to Dover in 1962. She retired from employment after many years at Dover High School. She thoroughly loved her job and the many students and school staff she worked with. A school mom to many she always carried candy in her pocket to share and gave a hug to those who needed one. During her time at Dover High, she was a part of the heart and soul of the school.
Alicia was an avid golfer and enjoyed the many relationships she formed at the Nippo Lake Golf Club. She participated in bowling at Dover Bowl for many years. Alicia loved the community of Dover and over the years volunteered for many community services including the American Red Cross, the Dover Group Home for Girls, the Teen Help Line and served on the Planning Board.
