ROCHESTER - After a long, courageous battle with cancer, Amy Beth (Favalora) Gilson, 56, of Rochester, born April 2, 1961, died peacefully on Thursday, January 25, 2018 and went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Amy was formerly a resident of Gloucester, Mass., and a 1979 graduate of Gloucester High School. She continued her education and later became a nurse. She was extremely proud of her nursing career.
After Amy's nursing career ended due to a disability, Amy volunteered to be a hospice nurse for her Uncle in his time of need. She gave countless hours of her time and devotion to him and his daughters.
Amy loved music and attending concerts. She enjoyed spending time on the beach and weekend boating trips. She always looked forward to family reunions. Amy loved birds. Amy thought God spoke to her through His birds. She loved to cook, loved to read books, watch movies, worship to music and she collected art.
Amy was very active in her church, Harvest of Praise Church of God in Rochester, where she had been a loyal member since October 24, 2010. She served on the Church Board of Trustees, on the Sunday Morning Praise and Worship Team, and on the Nursing Home Ministry Team. She was a teacher and a nurse at the church's school - Lighthouse Christian Academy. She helped with church events and was faithful in attending. She also helped to clean the church and school each week. She loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart and loved to serve others.
Amy was predeceased by her mother, Jean (Grant) Favalora, of Gloucester. She is survived by her father Frank Favalora of Rockport, Mass.; her loving cousins; dear friends; caring church family; and precious cat, Santo.
All of us would agree that Amy is most remembered for her witty humor. She had the ability to create laughter and she continually shared the laughter with all. She now delivers everlasting laughter throughout the kingdom of heaven.
