BARRINGTON - Andrea Calef Rowell died Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Mass., surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous but short battle with acute promyelocytic leukemia. She was born on September 16, 1949 the daughter of Roger L. Calef and Alberta Calef St. Cyr (Witham) of Barrington.
Andi was self-employed at Calef's Country Store, and then enjoyed working at Measured Progress, where she was a mother figure to all, until her retirement.
Andi was curator and lifetime member of the Barrington Historical Society. For over 40 years Andi considered herself, an amateur genealogist. She has compiled an index of over 50,000 names of Barrington and New England families. Her research has been a resource for many, from all over the country, in search of their New England heritage.
Andi loved doing things on the spur of the moment. Whether going to the mountains, that she loved, with breakfast at Polly's, a ride to nowhere, with a Road to nowhere blaring, or somewhere to trap a cat, and Andi loved her cats.
She always had to adopt her cats, whether it was one she caught, one that somebody dropped off, or one she chose from CVHS, she always had to have cats around. Her cats will miss her as much as everyone else will.
She is survived by her mother Alberta Calef St. Cyr; her husband of 32 years Timothy Rowell of Barrington; her son Nathan Conley and his wife Resha of Barrington; her daughter Arianne Conley and her husband Bill McCarthy of Portsmouth; her brothers William and wife Cathy of Fort Myers, Fla., and Jere and his wife Jane of Barrington; her loving grandchildren Talon and Arden Conley; her loving nieces Kelsey and Aly Calef of Barrington; and so many other niece and nephews to list.
