ROCHESTER - Anne L. Vreeland was born July 2, 1949 in Pittsfield, Mass., to John and Clara (Fisk) Vreeland of Lanesborough. She had one sister, Janet.
Her family most fondly remembers her love of adventures and traveling. As a young adult Anne drove with her family to and from Alaska in an old Chevy driving unpaved roads. She traveled cross country moving to and from Arizona taking out of the way routes to see sights such as Wolf Creek Pass. As a nurse Anne privately cared for a quadriplegic man taking him on adventures like a concert at Watkins Glen where she pushed him in his wheelchair for three miles to make the show.
As a single working mom and traveling from Adams, Mass., to Albany, N.Y., Anne proudly earned her RN at SUNY College while still finding time to teach her sons to dance. During this time her youngest son remembers a spur of the moment white water rafting trip where they purposely fell out of the raft to drift down river and laugh. Her oldest son recalls a hospital visit for a broken arm and playing Go-Fish while waiting for X-Rays.
Anne worked at North Hampton State Hospital, Berkshire Medical Center, and Southern Maine Medical Center as a caring nurse.
Even after surviving a fierce bout with cancer her desire to travel still prevailed. She enjoyed taking her husband and two children on adventures in search of Moose, caverns, and lighthouses. She and her husband road tripped across the country two more times in her life before passing away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, October 16, 2018.
Anne is survived by her husband Gerry; two sons Craig and Jon; and four grandchildren, Madison, Brayden, Lucas, and Charlie.
