CONCORD - Governor Chris Sununu today will announce the launch of a "No Safe Experience" PSA campaign to alert individuals that there is no safe experience when consuming fentanyl or any other drugs not prescribed by a medical professional.
The 11 a.m. press conference will detail a statewide collaborative effort that will educate youth, young adults, and families of the dangers and prevalence of fentanyl in counterfeit pills and illicit drugs.
It's a message he first spread in a Fox News Interview on Wednesday while talking about President Biden'd first visit to the southern border where the vast majority of fentanyl is easily smuggled into the country by Mexican cartels.
"It is a cartel-driven crisis," Sununu told America's Newsroom. "That's why this open border is such a problem. It's great to see the president finally down there and acknowledging it, but he's still two steps behind."
During the interview Sununu acknowledged that fentanyl was no longer just about shooting up or popping a pill.
"It's in aderall for kids, xanax, cocaine, meth," Sununu noted. "There's no safe experience. We've found fentanyl in vape cartridges. People think you're not doing fentanyl, you are."
In an Aug. 21 editorial The Rochester Voice criticized Biden's vapid, vacuous indifference to the border crisis, pointing out that Granite Staters are among those paying the price.
Indeed, New Hampshire has one of the highest per capita overdose death rates in the country with 379 deaths in 2021 and 479 predicted in 2022, which would be a 26 percent increase over last year.
Updated figures for 2022 were not immediately available.
The genesis of the editorial grew from a report that several Big Pharma giants had been fined for their dereliction in overprescribing fentanyl saying it was a safe drug to treat pain.
The Rochester Voice editorial argued that the misery wrought by Big Pharma's unscrupulous marketing scheme was a drop in the bucket compared to the thousands of pounds of fentanyl being smuggled into the United States on a regular basis, enough fentanyl to kill every American alive.
"But now it's exponentially worse, thanks to the feeble, pathetic Biden administration which loves open borders providing unfettered access to the cartels to ply their ruthless trade, which is now targeting children with fentanyl-laced pills that look like candy," the editorial stated.
On Dec. 19 Governor Chris Sununu led a joint letter signed by 25 of the nation's governors to the Biden Administration calling for an end to the federal government's national public health emergency relative to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We applaud the governor for spearheading this effort to end the tyranny associated with public health edicts that are often not backed by science, but by bureaucracy.
We hope he will lead the governors of like minded states in sending another letter to the president informing him that his administration needs to step up to the plate now, or take responsibility for the 100,000 fentanyl overdose deaths that occur in this country each year.
The "No Safe Experience" press conference will be held in the Executive Council Chambers at the State House.
