Armando Olivares ... enjoyed painting, jazz; at 94

In loving memory of Armando Olivares, who died peacefully with his family by his side, on January 28, 2024. He was born on June 23, 1929 in Cozad, Neb. He was the son of Arturo and Amelia Olivares and the oldest of seven children.
Armando lived in Arizona and California as a child. He was drafted into the Army during the Korean War and served two years in Japan. After the war, he began his career in the aerospace industry as a rocket test technician with Aerojet in Sacramento, Calif. After Aerojet, he worked at McClellan AFB where he met his
future wife, Carolyn. They married in 1954 and had three children. Armando worked for 36 years in the Aircraft Support Systems as a civilian in the Air Force.
Several moves during his career took his family to Idaho, New Hampshire, and eventually to England, where they lived for 11 years. While residing in England, he learned to watercolor and enjoyed photographing and painting the English countryside. He loved traveling abroad and experiencing other cultures.
After retiring, Armando returned to NH and stayed busy with his many hobbies. He was an avid handyman who loved to tinker with tools and could fix anything. He liked working on his riding lawn mowers as much as he liked riding them. He enjoyed the outdoors and brought his camera everywhere. He especially enjoyed
photographing nature and wildlife. He also loved listening to his favorite jazz musicians and keeping fit by riding his indoor bike. Another passion was genealogy, researching, and documenting the Olivares family tree. However, his most favorite pastime was spending time with his family. His children and grandchildren were everything to him.
Members of his family include his children, Kristi Olivares and husband, Chris Thompson of Rochester, Robyn Olivares and wife Jackie Thorpe of Hampton, and David Olivares of New York; his sisters, Aida Goldfin of Nevada and Alice Brotherton of California, his brother Alfred Olivares of Oregon; his grandchildren
Alex, Indy and Maddie Olivares-Thompson.
Armando was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Carloyn "KK" Clark Olivares, his two brothers Angelo and Arturo Olivares and sister Armida Lopez.
