At Tumbledown Cafe, farm to table is their passion, your pleasure

SANBORNVILLE, N.H. - Anyone who knows me well knows the reverence with which I hold the meal of breakfast.

There's nothing much flamboyant about it, but damn it, what's there better be good.

And at the Tumbledown Café in Sanbornville, they deliver in a big way.

Like any good meal, it starts with freshness and they've got that market cornered, with their eggs, bacon and sausage all coming - unprocessed - from their Brookfield farm a few miles down the road.

The sausage but comes out dense and spicy and complex. The bacon is a delicate, delicious smoked jewel that almost melts in your mouth.

And the eggs - with a tinge of orange due to their exquisite freshness - bloom with flavor as you eat.

Of course without good service the best meal could be a nightmare, but suffice it to say that on a busy, nay, hectic recent Sunday morning, I witnessed no less than four different waitresses stopping by to fill our coffee cups.

One random waitress actually picked up a bit of sugar wrapper left by my coffee.

To my delight they also had some of the best gluten free toast I've had.

Pricewise, it was about $8.50 per person for a full breakfast (with meat), not including coffee, so there's probably some cheaper breakfasts out there, but not better, not for a good long ways at least.
