White Mountains State is a down-to-earth, everyman story for anyone with an interest in hiking and mountain climbing. The book highlights both the trails and challenges of the New Hampshire 48 as well as the deep satisfaction and accomplishment that can result in finishing the list.

In the book Gentili gives a detailed account of hiking each mountain, either solo or with those he recruits, all while making sure his quest harmonizes with his family life and hiking partnerships.

Gentili will be at the Rochester Public Library to talk about his new book and share his perspective on hiking in the White Mountains. The event will take place on June 30 at 1 p.m. in the Community Room. Registration is required. To sign up, visit the Main Desk or call (603) 332-1428 ext. 2.
