Autopsy on Dover infant who died at child care center shows no foul play, police say

DOVER - An autopsy performed today on a Dover infant did not show "anything suspicious," police say, but the manner of the child's death will continue to be investigated.

Dover Police, Fire and Rescue first became involved around 1:50 p.m. on Thursday as they responded to Honey Hill Child Care Center at 57 Central Ave. for a report of an infant that was not conscious and not breathing.

The child, a three-month-old boy from Dover, was transported to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The autopsy was performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The cause of death is still being investigated, police say.

Police further say there no evidence that any other child at the day care facility was in any danger.

This case continues to be investigated by the Dover Police Department's Special Investigations Unit.
