Autopsy set for today hoped to shed light on Dover shooting

DOVER - An autopsy to be performed today on a man fatally shot on Saturday in what has been called a domestic dispute could finally shed some light on what unfolded on Three Rivers Farms Road in Dover on Saturday morning.

Police remained tight-lipped on the incident on Sunday saying they would have no further comment on the case - including the victim's name and the exact address where the shooting occurred - until after the autopsy is performed.

The other man involved in the shooting remains hospitalized at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover.

Police Chief Anthony Colarusso on Saturday afternoon labeled the incident a domestic situation between a father and son, but didn't comment on what specifically sparked or who was involved in the incident.

The man who died - said to be in his 50s - was shot around 9:10 a.m. and was taken to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Saturday where detectives sought to interview him. He died hours later. It's not clear whether he was able to communicate with officers before he died.

While Dover Police and the AG's offices agree they are still unsure as to what exactly happened, they assure the public there is no safety threat.

"Although the investigation is still in its preliminary stages, authorities believe that all of the involved parties to the incident have been identified and there is no threat to the general public," Peter Hinckley, Senior Assistant Attorney General, said late Saturday.
