ROCHESTER - A fast-moving fire destroyed a Rochester barn Sunday.

Rochester Fire was called to the scene a little after 8 p.m., according to Rochester Fire Capt. Mark Avery, who said crews found the barn fully involved when they arrived.

"It was mostly a defensive attack, we had the bulk of the fire out in 10 minutes, but there was a lot of debris we had to cool and wet," Avery said today.

Mutual aid was called with Dover, Somersworth and Durham responding aided by tankers from Strafford and Barrington due to the lack of fire hydrants in the area.

Avery said the barn was likely a total loss, including a motorcycle that was stored there.

An investigating into the cause continues.
