ROCHESTER - Barry K. Flanagan, 73 of Rochester died peacefully at home October 5, 2021 after a long period of failing health.

Barry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was the son of the late Edward and Anita (Dube) Flanagan.

Barry graduated at 16 years old from Outward Bound School, Hurricane Island, Maine and immediately began serving two tours with the Navy aboard the USS Kearsarge becoming a Vietnam Veteran. He received a bravery commendation for his heroic acts aboard the ship saving a life during a fire.

Barry then worked for 11 years in the Police Force and 14 years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He also served for 13 years as a Rochester NH Police Commissioner. He volunteered for 25 years coaching various youth sports. Barry was also a member of the Rochester Elks Lodge and the American Legion of Rutland, VT.

Barry was a very faith filled man. He was a communicant of Saint Mary's Parish in Rochester NH. Barry's family was his pride and joy. He particularly loved the Fryberg Fair, and family trips to Disney World.

Barry is predeceased by his parents Edward and Anita (Dube) Flanagan. His children Barry (Bo) K. Flanagan II, Thad E Flanagan, Katie (Flanagan) Lougee, Grandson Nathaniel Flanagan Aube. Siblings Kirby Flanagan, sister-in-law Donna (Curran) Flanagan, and Nancy (Flanagan) Macaione.

Barry is survived by his soul mate and loving wife of 43 years Jane (Caliendo) Flanagan, daughter Sara Cotter and husband Daniel WJ Cotter III, daughter Michele Aube and husband Bryan E. Aube, Son-in-law Joseph H Lougee, sister Linda (Flanagan) Chase, 13 wonderful grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Barry was truly a one of a kind who will be greatly missed.
