Bay State woman charged with DUI in Charles St. crash

ROCHESTER - Two Bay State women were injured on Monday when their vehicle crashed into a building on Charles Street.

The accident occurred in the area of 38 Charles St. around 7:25 p.m. when police say Jennifer Smith, 49, of Acton, Mass., was driving a Ford Taurus traveling north when it left the roadway and struck the building.

Smith and a passenger, Gina Ray, 49 of Lowell, Mass., were both taken to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with what were described as nonlife threatening injuries.

As a result of an investigation, Smith was arrested for driving under the influence.
