ROCHESTER - Bernard "Bernie" Lewis died on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at the age of 86. He was born in Hyde Park, Mass., and grew up in Dover.
He graduated from Dover High School in 1950. Bernie then served four years in the US Air Force. After that he was store manager at Rivers Camera Shop in Rochester for many years. He worked at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for almost eight years and retired from there in 1994.
He had 17 wonderful years wintering in Florida at Rice Creek RV Park. Bernie enjoyed photography, taking trips, dancing, and in his younger years he loved to roller skate.
Members of his family include his wife of 18 years, June (Caldwell) Murray Lewis; son, Stephen and wife Melanie Lewis; stepchildren, Janice Murray, John D. Murray, Jr., Joseph W. Murray, James M. Murray; grandchildren, Bennett and Evan Lewis; sister, Sylvia Stark. He was predeceased by his first wife, Sylvia Lewis in 1979.
