MILTON - Bertram Merrill Tilton, 84, loving husband of the late Lauretta (Bishop) Tilton, died peacefully in his home on Friday, September 28, 2018. Born on June 16, 1934 in Kittery Point, Maine, he was the son of the late Bertram and Mildred (Pinkham) Tilton.
Bertram's sense of adventure led him to serve his country in the Air Force for 20 years. He then went on to serve in a civilian role for the Department of Defense for an additional 20 years.
He met his late wife Jean while stationed at Pepperrell Air Force base in Newfoundland, Canada. They had five children, and shared 59 wonderful years together.
The discipline and patriotism he acquired in the Air Force never elapsed as friends and family will attest.
Bertram's memory will be treasured by his family, including his children Cynthia Tilton and Victor of Jacksonville, Fla.; Susan Miller and Jon of Colusa, Calif.; Laura Tilton and Ronald of Milton; daughter-in-law Glynn Tilton of Warner Robins, Ga.; Teresa Stephen of Kittery; grandchildren Charles, Richard, Sarah, Marilyn, Justin and Ronald; great-granddaughter Gracie; his sister Barbara; several nieces and nephews. Bertram was predeceased by his wife Lauretta, sons Bert and John, sisters Jacqueline and Phyllis.
