ROCHESTER - The Department of Public Works for the City of Rochester is working with a contractor to repaint yellow lines (dashed and solid) and white roadway markings.
The effort began Monday and will continue during late evening and early morning hours the rest of the month.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution and avoid crossing white or yellow lines, particularly in areas where signage is present, according to a statement from the city's DPW filed on Monday.
Inadvertently crossing wet lines or passing the slowly moving paint trucks can result in paint splashing or transferring onto vehicles.
DPW officials say that If your vehicle comes into contact with wet paint, wash it off as quickly as possible using soap and high-pressure water. The paint is water-based and will wash off, but it becomes more difficult to remove the longer it remains on the vehicle.
For safety and to prevent damage to a vehicle, the public is asked to heed all traffic signs and be mindful of the painting crews working during these hours.
