Bikers belly up to the bar to benefit Vouchers for Veterans programs

ACTON, Maine - One by one bikers lined up at Iron Tails Saloon in Acton on Saturday to plunk down handfuls of cash to fund Vouchers for Veterans programs in York County and now Strafford County as well.

Bar Manager Bruce Rossborough, an Army veteran, announced the addition of Strafford County, including Rochester, on Saturday, telling The Rochester Voice he was proud and grateful that he could extend the program to veterans in neighboring New Hampshire.

"Doing this is my pride and joy," he said. "I love it, I love taking care of my brothers and sisters."
Rossborough said he was amazed at the generosity of customers who each and every weekend show up to donate their hard-earned money to help those in need.
On Saturday one biker donated $200, another a huge handful of cash, including several $20s.
Rossborough said the biker bar raised more than $1,000 already this weekend and more than $26,000 so far this year.
The Vouchers for Veterans Program allows veterans to receive $20 every week in September that they can use to purchase fresh produce and meats.
Rochester's Farmers Market runs every Tuesday through September from 3-6 p.m. at the Common, while Sanford's Farmers Market is 8 a.m.-noon at Central Park across from City Hall.
