Body of suicidal Ossipee man found near Barrington pond

BARRINGTON - The body of a suicidal Ossipee man was found Saturday near a Barrington pond after SWAT teams and a police helicopter spent hours trying to find him after an initial report of shots fired around 5 a.m.

The search narrowed to an area known as "The Ledge" near Stonehouse Pond.

The body of Brian Shaw, 37, was found around 1:30 p.m. in a wooded area. He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

Some 50 officers had participated in the search effort.
