DOVER - A Bristol man still facing trial in three Rochester robberies from last year was sentenced today to 90-270 years for his rape, kidnapping and robbery spree in Durham in March 2017.

Joshua Flynn, 47, was sentenced by Strafford County Superior Court Judge Steven M. Houran to 10-30 years each on three rape counts, 10-30 years on three kidnapping counts and 10-30 years on three robbery counts.

The sentences are all consecutive, not concurrent, which means the minimums and maximums apply in each case.

Flynn raped and kidnapped a 23-year-old woman during his burglary of Durham's Emery Farm on March 10, 2017.

It took a Strafford County jury less than three hours to deliver a guilty verdict in May.

Flynn maintained during trial that the sex was consensual, something the jury obviously didn't buy.

Flynn still faces trial in several robberies that occurred in Rochester in the week prior to the Durham robbery and rape, including robberies at the Milton Road Family Dollar and Rochester Shell station on Washington Street on March 7, and the Shell station on North Main Street on March 8.

Flynn, who was credited with 503 days of pretrial confinement and can shave five years of each of three robbery counts, will most likely live the rest of his life behind walls bars.

Assistant County Attorney Jock Barth said the sentence was warranted and is "designed to segregate Flynn from society, given his incredible criminal history."

He said Flynn will still be brought back to court to face sentencing or trial for the three Rochester robberies.

Barth said he doubted Flynn would ever see a chance for parole.

"Unless this is altered by a sentencing review panel, Mr. Flynn will die in prison," he said.
