SANBORNVILLE, N.H. - With a mix of anticipation and excitement as the annual Calico Fair nears, volunteers at the Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist toiled on church grounds today in advance of the annual fund-raiser set for tomorrow, Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A live auction, which was wildly popular last year, will be returning with a professional auctioneer to make it even more exciting.
Items for auction include heirloom furniture, estate jewelry and authentic sports memorabilia treasures. They can be previewed at 9 a.m. with bidding beginning at 10 a.m.
There will be plenty to eat and drink at the fair, including hamburgers, hot dogs and Italian sausage with seating available. Fairgoers will also be able to grab an old fashioned root beer float or hot coffee and stroll around the various tables.
A bake table will include yummy treats like homemade pie, cake or fresh bread. There will also be plenty of snacks like cookies, brownies and strawberry shortcake.
The church loves its furry friends, so they'll be homemade dog treats and energy bars for sale plus watering stations.
Yard Sale and White Elephant tents will have something for everyone from tools to toys, kitchen gadgets to home decor, seasonal decorations to sporting goods. There will be separate tables for books and jewelry.
New this year will be a foam glider airstrip for young and old alike. Come decorate your glider and see how far it'll fly.
And for youngsters Butterfingers Da Klown will be back enthralling the little ones with face painting and balloon animals.
St. John's Church is located at 118 High St., Sanbornville. Parking is available along High Street, with plenty of handicapped parking from the St. John Street entrance.
