LEBANON - Carroll Everett Nelson Jr., 89, formerly of Lebanon, died peacefully on Friday, July 28, 2017, surrounded by loved ones, at Riverside Rest Home in Dover, N.H. Born July 27, 1928 in Waterville, he was the son of the late Carroll Everett Nelson, Sr. and Annie Frances (Ash) Nelson.
Carroll moved to Dover, with his family in 1938. He served in the Korean War as a corporal in the Army Signal Corps and was honorably discharged from the Army Reserves in July 1956. He worked for Robbins Auto in Somersworth, N.H., for more than 30 years, retiring as a store manager in 1986. Carroll enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing cribbage and pool. He had a wonderful sense of humor and will be greatly missed.
Members of his family include his son, Carroll Everett Nelson, III (Tinka) and his wife Eva of Middleton, N.H., and his daughter, Brenda Plumer and her husband Michael Plumer of Lebanon.
Grandchildren Danielle Nelson of Portland, Ellen Nelson and her boyfriend Scott Harakles of Kennebunk, Bobby Nelson of Portsmouth, N.H.,, Ryan (Purington) Rogers and her husband Jason of Lebanon, Jason Purington and his wife Bethany of Middleton, N.H., Christina (Purington) McGivern and her husband Mike of North Berwick and Abigail Plumer of Lebanon.
Carroll is survived by his longtime companion of 30 years, Geraldine Vachon of Lebanon; Stepdaughters, Donna (Vachon) Lapeyrouse of Lee, N.H., Tina (Vachon) Boulanger and her husband Bill of Somersworth, N.H., Vicky (Vachon) Cimma and her husband Paul of Verde, Ariz., Step-grandchildren, Tyler Bisson, Taryn Bisson, Jared Boulanger and Aaron Bonti, fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his wife, Helen Ann (Bickford) Nelson and siblings Maurice D. Nelson, Ivol A. Nelson, Alice M. Tuttle, Velma E. McKenney, Richard F. Nelson and Edward H. Nelson.
