MANCHESTER - CASA of New Hampshire, a nonprofit that trains volunteers to advocate for children who have experienced abuse and neglect, is hosting a virtual information session focused on recruiting new advocates in Strafford County. The virtual event will be held on April 5 at 5:30 p.m. CASA staff members and an active volunteer from the area will provide information about the role of an advocate and answer questions.

Those interested in registering to attend the session can visit the Volunteer menu on the CASA of New Hampshire website and select Virtual Info Sessions.

Approximately 65 CASA volunteer advocates currently serve Strafford County children experiencing abuse and neglect, but more volunteers are needed.

"Our goal is to have a trained advocate available for every child who needs one by their side," adds Marcia Sink, President and CEO of CASA of New Hampshire.

Kurt Hastings, a CASA volunteer advocate from Nottingham, has found his role as an advocate to be meaningful. "It's a fulfilling role in the life of children. Your only interest is working for the benefit of the child. You get to help them navigate all of the things that are going on around them. As an advocate you have a voice in decisions that are being made, both large and small," he explains.

Since 1989, CASA of New Hampshire has provided a voice for abused and neglected children in New Hampshire by empowering a statewide network of trained volunteers to advocate on their behalf so they can thrive in safe, permanent homes.
