ROCHESTER - Charles A. Arkwell Jr. of Rochester died on March 16, 2023. Charles met the love of his life, Robin, and married her 1 year later. They shared 36 years of marriage. He was a dedicated husband who cared deeply, for his wife. Charles served four years in the Army and an additional 22 years in the New Hampshire Army National Guard, achieving the rank of sergeant in an artillery unit. At the young age of 22, Charles joined the American Legion, serving in various posts until becoming the District Commander of the State of New Hampshire, demonstrating his exceptional dedication to helping and serving veterans. Charles was a kind and selfless man who was always thinking of his wife and those around him. His great source of joy was his son, Nathan, and he was incredibly proud of all his accomplishments, including becoming a Marine. Charles was known to use humor to connect with people, and to surprise his wife with unexpected gifts. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 9 and a longstanding patron of Barrington Shores Campground, where he and his family enjoyed many summers together.

Charles is survived by his wife Robin; his son Nathan; his brother Russell Arkwell; his sisters Beverly Silloway, Diane Mann, and Anita Hoyt; his maternal aunt Priscilla Perron; his maternal uncle Vincent Daudelin; his paternal aunt Claramae Hebert; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles A. Arkwell, Sr. and Eloise Arkwell.
