DOVER - The Children's Museum of New Hampshire announced today that they have been awarded a grant in the amount of $10,000 from Kennebunk Savings Bank's "Spotlight Fund". The grant will support needed upgrades to the museum website's infrastructure and a redesign of the content focused on increasing accessibility to the museum's online resources for families and early education professionals.

"We are grateful for the continued support of our partners at Kennebunk Savings Bank. In addition to allowing us to better serve caregivers and educators, these upgrades will extend learning and engagement for families after their visit through better delivery of virtual programming," says Jane Bard, museum president. "The end result is that the vast inventory of educational resources will be more easily accessed and utilized to improve student engagement and performance throughout the state."

The Spotlight Fund's focus for 2021 is Early Childhood Education. "Since the museum's focus is enriching learning for kids during key developmental years through hands-on discovery and play based learning, we knew their work was a good fit for our Spotlight Fund," said Liz Torrance, social responsibility manager at Kennebunk Savings. "Throughout the pandemic, they have been flooded with requests for virtual programming that educators and families can use to support at-home learning. Even while temporarily closing the doors of the museum and experiencing a substantial drop in ticket sales, they maintained their focus on meeting the community's needs, creating virtual resources and making them available for free. The demand for these virtual early learning programs has only continued, and we're proud to help make them more readily available through a newer and more robust website."

CMNH staff transitioned many of the museum's most popular programs to a virtual format, available online, during the pandemic and looks forward to a return to in-person programs this coming school year. The museum is currently open Tuesday through Sunday, and guests can register for timed sessions on their website.
