City cases skyrocket; statewide hospitalizations top 100 for 1st time since May

CONCORD - Active COVID-19 cases in Rochester spiked by more than 30 percent in one day with an additional 23 cases identified on Friday, according to DHHS numbers.

Meanwhile, DHHS announced 527 new positive test results for COVID-19 statewide, for a daily PCR test positivity rate of 3.5 percent.

The newly identified cases include fifty-one under 18 and 72 from Strafford County. Manchester, alone, saw 80 new infections.

Current virus case counts in other local cities and towns include 80 in Dover, 24 in Somersworth and Farmington, 17 in Barrington, 13 in Milton and five in Strafford.

DHHS also announced one additional death related to COVID-19, a Hillsborough County woman over 60.

There are currently 108 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19, breaking the century mark for the first time since the virus' initial surge in May.
