ROCHESTER - Rochester Public Library recently collaborated with various city departments to assemble a 2020 time capsule.

Staff included artwork, award-winning book lists, and news articles chronicling the turbulent election, and a crocheted Bernie Sanders. One librarian included a smaller capsule housed inside a recycled wipe container.

"Even though we're ready to put 2020 behind us, we thought it would be interesting to preserve some of the unique things we experienced, both personally and professionally," said Christina Paquette, Rochester Public Library Children's Room worker.

Other city departments included programming highlights. The Police Department included trading cards of current officers. Buildings and Grounds included the mask worn by Parson Main and paired it with a photo by Rochester photographer John Gisis.

The capsule will be sealed and stored in the Libraries Special Collections room with instructions to be opened in 2050.
