City driver hurt trying to avoid dog in N. Main St. crash

ROCHESTER - A Rochester woman was injured on Thursday when she swerved to avoid a dog and struck a utility pole on North Main Street.

The accident occurred around 8:25 p.m. when police say a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu being operated by Darlene Rocheleau, 64, left the roadway and struck the pole after swerving to avoid a dog.

Rocheleau was taken to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with what were described as minor injuries.

There was extensive damage to the vehicle, however, and it had to be towed. The road was shut down for a while crews worked the scene and repaired damage to the pole; it was reopened around 7 a.m.
